January Community Heroes

Each month, we celebrate Community Heroes across Northamptonshire. These organisations are working tirelessly to improve the lives of our county's most vulnerable residents, and we're very proud to support them.
To read more about each Hero, have a look at our Community Hero of the Week column in the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, published every Thursday.
The Curator Educator
The Curator Educator is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to developing creative opportunities that are accessible and inclusive for all.
The educator’s HumaNN project was developed following a successful pilot workshop at The Yard, in collaboration with illustration students from the University of Northampton, set up to support the challenges that communities across Northamptonshire face surrounding mental health.
Northamptonshire Carers
Northamptonshire Carers support the approximately 70,000 unpaid carers across the county.
To give young carers a voice, the charity set up a Young Carers Steering Group which brought together 79 beneficiaries to co-produce a video used in local school assemblies and across social media, to raise awareness of their lived experiences. Since its production, the video has been shared widely by the local council, health and social care professionals and schools.
Shine! Arts and Wellbeing
Shine! Arts and Well-Being was set up in September 2022 to support neurodivergent adults in Northamptonshire.
The not-for-profit community organisation runs affordable, accessible and informal sessions for members and their carers, which include activities like arts and crafts, trips out to different places around the local area, and cooking.
Power of the Mind Networks
Launched eight years ago, Power of the Mind is a storytelling community that aims to bring about community cohesion by enabling people from diverse backgrounds to share their stories and to inspire understanding, trust, and less prejudice.
Power of the Mind also provide vital welfare support to vulnerable Northamptonshire residents. At the end of last year, the group was awarded a grant from Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Warm this Winter Fund, which enabled the provision of food parcels to those in need.
Right Resolution CIC

The group were recently awarded a grant from the St Giles Charitable Trust Fund, through Northamptonshire Community Foundation. This grant will fund projects focusing on eradicating poverty amongst young care leavers, including the provision of weekly parcels of food, toiletries, sanitary products and cleaning products.
