First for Wellbeing Fund



The First for Wellbeing Fund will offer grants from £500 up to £10,000 to develop ongoing project activity or initiate new project activity supporting people's health and wellbeing across Northamptonshire.


Successful applicants must have match funding of at least 25% of the overall cost of the project (this can include 'in kind' costs such as volunteer time and equipment) and will have the opportunity to sign up to

Projects will be considered across a range of activities including arts,culture, education and skills, environment, tackling disadvantage and exclusion, sports and recreation.


Your application must explain how the activities will support the improvement of health and wellbeing for individuals and communities for example reducing social isolation and loneliness, improving people's physical, emotional and mental health, improving the quality of the local environment and use of public space.


Example projects may include:


Sports and exercise clubs

Pocket parks and green spaces

Lifelong learning and training opportunities

Volunteering schemes

Fuel and food poverty initiatives

Dance and music activities


Am I eligible?






  • Your group must be a small, locally managed, voluntary, community or self-help group
  • You must have people volunteering to help with your activity, who are not part of your management committee
  • You must have a set of written rules or constitution that your group adheres to. We can help advise you on how to do this especially if you are a new group
  • You must have a child protection policy in place





    The programme will not fund the following:

    • Profit making organisations
    • Capital or refurbishment projects
